Health & Well Being @ Work Conference NEC

MDG One Team selfie!

On Tuesday 5th March 2019, Fiona Rose, Suzanne Wilkinson, Lesley Wroe and Karen Forbes-Jackson attended the Health and Wellbeing @ Work conference at the Birmingham NEC. Our partners, Medi-Gold had a magnificent stand and we were very excited to see our MDG logo appear every few minutes on their visual display.

We had an extremely interesting day hearing from various vendors who provide H&WB services. There was everything from mental health awareness to nutrition advice, focusing on different themes such as an ageing workforce including menopausal employees, anxiety, stress and depression and general women’s and men’s health.

The areas we could relate to were mostly occupational health and physiotherapy, where we already provide services such as Ergo checks and DSE assessments, although we were also keen to hear about possible opportunities for MDG to widen its services.

In terms of our own workforce, we already have an active walking club, smoothie bar and nurse-led health check days. Members of our staff are mental health first aiders, and we plan on extending those support benefits throughout the coming year.

Attending the conference has raised our awareness as to the benefits of providing our clients with a way of reducing their company sickness levels and increasing productivity. We have been looking at the effects of presenteeism and how to combat them, and also how to reduce absence through sickness.

MDG believe that your employees are your most valuable asset. The key to remaining profitable and efficient is to have a happy and healthy workforce. Helping you manage your health, fitness and well-being is rewarding to both the business and staff.
